A Beat In Time sees teenage pupils Lauren and Ryan (based on the Catherine Tate Show characters) travel back in time with the Doctor in the Tardis to witness the sights and the music of different decades.

Written by Players Sammi and Steve Canning, Michele Charles and Simon Peyton, it's the first time the team has collaborated with All Saints Concert Band to create a story interspersed with live music. In order to accommodate the band’s 40-strong membership and the Players, the play will be performed in the auditorium at Coloma Convent School, Upper Shirley Road, Shirley, on Saturday 12 July. The action starts at 7.30pm with the doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now!

Co-director and producer Simon Peyton said: “This is a really exciting project with many firsts. We’re looking forward to entertaining the audience with a mixture of sketches performed by the Downsview Players alongside music from different decades performed by All Saints Concert Band.

“We have a group of friends from both organisations who have known each other for years so we thought why not put our respective talents together and create a musical journey back in time.

“It’s been really fun rehearsing and hearing the script we’ve written come to life. And the band’s music has added another level to A Beat In Time. I hope the audience have as much fun as we have had working on this musical production.”
